Test Your Skills

So which of the preceding photos presents us with a photographic mystery that can be approached objectively and subjected to a reasonable question? (A clue: How you describe what you see is very important.) Remember, only one actually shows something that cannot be explained away as a common photographic error.

Ready?

--If you answer "The photo of Colonel Mustard with the Candlestick in the Pantry," then you're probably a little confused about the subject.

--If you answer "The photo of the spooky ectoplasm/orb/vortex in (pick almost any room)," then you probably need a bit more practice at discerning photographic errors and you may need access to a good dictionary. Look up the word "objective."

--If you answer "The photo of Anna Whaley by the bed in the sitting room upstairs," then you've got a very good eye for culling out run-of-the-mill photographic errors and you probably already know a great deal about the reputation and history of the Whaley House. The objective part still needs a little work, though.

--But, if you answer "The photo capturing the light apparently reflecting off the obscure image by the bed in the sitting room upstairs," then you win the gold star.
